This take isn’t wrong—the Democratic Party has spent years alienating its base, shutting out progressive voices, and consolidating power among an entrenched elite. And now, when democracy itself is in crisis, where are they? Where is the leadership we’re supposed to rally behind? Their silence is deafening.
But let’s be clear: this is not about abandoning the Democratic Party. The party has done real good—for people, for the planet, for humanity. It has championed civil rights, expanded healthcare, fought for climate action, and defended democracy against authoritarian threats. These things matter. We cannot forget that.
At the same time, we cannot ignore that the party has also failed to evolve, failed to listen, and failed to give voters real choices. We saw it with Bernie Sanders in 2016, when the DNC was more focused on securing a Clinton presidency than allowing a truly open primary. We saw it again in 2020, when the party establishment quickly aligned behind Biden to block any progressive momentum. It wasn’t outright rigging, but it was a clear message: Was the leadership actually interested in an open contest of ideas, or were they more concerned with maintaining control?
And the 2024 election only reinforced that. Instead of cultivating fresh voices and new leadership, the Democrats put all their weight behind Biden—ignoring clear signs that voters wanted a real choice. The election became nothing more than a recycling of Biden and Trump, a rematch that no one was truly excited about. When they finally pulled Biden out at the last minute, it was too late. Now, we’re watching in real time how polarized, unprepared, and unorganized the party actually is.
I want to believe in the Democratic Party. I want leadership that fights for democracy, not just power. But right now, when their voices should be the loudest, they are nowhere to be found. That has to change.
If the Democratic Party wants people to fight for it, it needs to be worth fighting for. It needs to stand for something more than self-preservation. It needs to show up. Because democracy isn’t just about who we vote against—it’s about who is willing to lead when it matters most.
No. The democrats gave spent too much time defending trans women in girls sports. And in addition not addressing illegal migration to the US. The Roosevelt hotel was not a good look. enough to piss off working class people. Texas shipped illegal migrants to New York to show the mess that was allowed to fester. And finally Demi rats didn’t address the young male voters who flocked to Trump. For them he rescued some form of male frustration
Honestly men can’t afford to support a family which traditionally has been a male goal. Don’t understand why the democrats didn’t pick up on this
Anti trans ads. There were young black men paid for by musks billionaires. They had a message for young black males that seemed to work well. Hey the government hasn’t done much for you. Try coming with us. The billionaire class
Absolutely. And their contributions to this country cannot be undersold. That said. As a Zillennial I have a hard time seeing what they’ve done for me lately.
The issue I have with this article is the casual dismissal of the administration's termination of federal employees. First, federal employees (generally speaking) are every day people like anyone else. They keep federal services running as best they can with the resources they're allotted. Further, blanket terminations really ARE illegal insofar as how the admin is doing it. You can't simply fire Title 5 federal employees, even ones who are still probationary. The Exec Branch can't ignore statutory law. We're seeing this with the pushback from unions like the AFGE and other groups fighting against the mass terminations. I'm not talking about appointed bureaucrats; they don't fall under Title 5 like most normal federal employees. Look, I get it, we do need to weed out the garbage spending, but cutting federal employees is not the way to go. Yes, we spend somewhat for their salaries, but that is nothing compared to our spending on other wasteful programs and projects that we shouldn't have. Take the VA, for example. What good is going to come from cutting employees from there? None. Zero. All it will do is severely hamper the VA's ability to provide services and benefits to VETERANS, who need and rely on the assistance they receive and apply for. Less medical services. Longer wait times on completion of compensations claims. The VA has worked for decades to improve those wait times and have actually been wildly successful; gutting it of employees will only revert it back to its previous "poor service" to veterans and their families. The same can be said of the SSA and the other agencies that provide critical services. The federal workforce is NOT like a corporate workplace such as X. That's a shit comparison.
The one to blame for all this debt since Clinton put us in a surplus - one choice was taxing the wealthy what they should be taxed, then deregulation which the banks ran with and caused the 2007-8 crash - is CONGRESS! Both sides and together. They had the purse strings and they approved raising the debt ceiling. To be more clear, Bush Jr. created the first high tax cut for the wealthy and with no FTC or anti-trust in decades, the mergers began and over took from health to tech. Bush also wiped out that nice surplus and Congress has done absolutely nothing to build it back - to say no! Funny how everyone screams the Pentagon has the hugest, over-bloated budget that never passes an audit for waste and yet they haven’t been touched! If you look at history, the so called fiscal Republicans have increased the debt more than anyone - after Bush it was Trump 1.0 and now he’s taking from wallets, and SS and Medicare which are NOT entitlements - we paid into it. I began working as a kid mowing yards, bike trips to the store and babysitting. At 16, I got a work permit and began working at a store in the back helping with their billing and put into FICA until I retired - almost 50 years! I almost delivered my two kids in the job and paid cash for their birth as we had no health insurance. Now they threaten to end it as an ENTITLEMENT? And yes both parties have fallen into these packs of leaders who tells everyone what to do - except now they’re being threatened. And Elon Musk could care less about DOGE or Americans - the majority of his wealth is from government contracts and he’s going to make sure there’s no competition and they’ll increase and keep him the wealthiest Nazi racist in the world!
Nobody raised our national deficit more than Donald Trump. A lifetime of failed, bankrupt businesses and the ignorant people of our country believe he is a good businessman!
Who are you calling Democratic elites? Republicans seem to be embracing the oligarchy-Bezos, Zuckerberg, Musk running the country-he and his band of merry men(boys) firing people in swaths-with no regard for their work or jobs. And Trump saying he knows some very nice Russian oligarchs in reference to his 5 million dollar special green cards. People would have lost it if Biden had George Soros come in and run the government and cause thousands of people to lose their jobs. Why doesn’t Musk start cutting jobs at Starlink or SpaceX instead of eyeing NASA? Do the American people really want this? Wait till the Social Security checks and Medicare payments to providers start getting screwed up. Let’s look at that Republican Cabinet of Elites, sitting there like good little boys listening to Elon Musk tell them what’s what. Take away Musk’s money, and he’d look just idiotic holding court in the Oval Office and in front of the Cabinet. How smart would all of his actions look then? Easy to put Kamala Harris down-just like they did with Hillary Clinton. Everyone knows the Republicans want women-especially white women-barefoot and pregnant.
Apparently the underlying issue is Americans of both parties are being affected. They are tanking the country. We need all hands on deck and discussion can begin later.
Democratic elites? All of Congress acts like they’re elite…Republicans and Democrats. Some work for the people while others prune their feathers. You have a Bernie Sanders, an Independent that cannot command the respect of the people because of what?…..his accent, he’s old, not pretty enough…but cares about regular people and the Constitution. He saying the right things now.
Republicans, for as long as I can remember are for the rich…. It’s because of them and our Conservative Supreme Court who gave Corporations the same rights as an individual with far more money to have their demands met. We let them. We did. Because all they have to do is use a few catch phrases and like Pavlov’s dog…we follow.
We have sunk so low…that we allow a fiend who brags about grabbing pussy hold a bible with the same hand…. and then we buy the bible.
In trying to “care” for our children, we coddle them so that many teachers can’t get the respect they need to conduct a class of 30 plus students messaging and harassing each other. We did this. You want someone to blame, look in the mirror. We’ve allowed this. You did. I did.
I don’t care you affiliation one way or the other I don’t care what color you are. I just want everyone to have a fair shake and not to have to resort to detrimental things.🎉
You have a problem, confusing your Democrats with awarding Elon Musk. The first agreement with the government was under Mr. Bush 2019 agreements for Starlink would’ve been under the orange man. Please clarify your timeline.
The “blame” game may feel satisying but wastes time. Easy to say Dems were too elitest in a country where 34% have college degrees. Far more people watch Fox news than read books—and the lack of questioning the source? Elected a traitor to the U.S., a man who bankrupted 6 times and when he could not get a loan in the U.S. went to Russia and got lots of money. 1980s. His son-in-law in T’s first term was asked about taking money and answered he doesn’t have to-csn get it from Russia.
Why is it none of the traitor’s acolytes knew he bankrupted Atlantic City? Took not just all his money put of the casinos but his partners. And the city’s investment. Philadelphia Magazine detailled the story. Not on Fox news? Who would buy a car from such a man, let alone give him a Kingdom?
So I do think you are not right. Traitor will drain all the wealth from this country. Bankruptcy is his specialty. He got rid of allies to isolate our population.
Better think better, smarter. May need a revolution to retrieve the “land of the free, the home of the brave.”
As I had commented earlier....

We all screwed up when Bernie wasn’t elected president!
That’s on us. And, we are all Paying the Price!
Bernie would never had won.
God, I wish what you were saying here wasn’t true but it is. Thank you for your courage.
Thank you Meri. I get beat up a lot for it but I stand by it. I have a follow up on governance coming shortly.
Diane Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi were elected many times and in their youths delivered what constiuenta wanteid.
Absolutely. And their contributions to this country cannot be undersold. That said. As a Zillennial I have a hard time seeing what they’ve done for me lately.

Oh, thank you for proving that you have to resort to name calling . Glad you got a good laugh, Mr. Sensible Man.
Lol. Sheer NPC stupidity. Your main problem is you think you’re smart but you’re only a brainwashed retard.
Apparently the underlying issue is Americans of both parties are being affected. They are tanking the country. We need all hands on deck and discussion can begin later.
Your comment was cut off, Sheryl.

Who elected Elon f’ing Musk to run our government? NOBODY!
This is absolutely insane, and as far as I know, we still have a Constitution.
I think the voter turnout was pretty sad
I hope that didn’t sound mean I didn’t intend it to be
